Chrome and metallic finishes are back — and more modern than eve

Once seen as a hallmark of “2000s office style,” they’ve returned looking calm, refined, and elegant. Today’s metallics are often matte or semi-gloss, with none of that cheap “mirror shine.”

Where they work best:

• Lighting. Geometric shapes, mirrored shades that reflect light — no longer just a chandelier, but a statement piece.

• Tables and chairs. Chrome legs and frames make furniture appear visually lighter — a nod to Marcel Breuer.

• Decor. Vases, trays, mirrors in chrome frames, candleholders — small accents that add just the right sparkle.

• Kitchens as a whole, or appliances, hardware, and utensils — all look sleek and high-tech.

What to pair them with:

— Neutral shades (white, gray, beige): chrome acts like jewelry.

— Wood and matte textures: the warm–cool contrast creates balance.

— Rich colors (burgundy, blue, emerald): metallic accents deepen the palette.

Golden rule: moderation. Metal is an accessory — overdo it, and you get a circus tent; use it sparingly
and strategically, and your interior will feel elevated and contemporary.
